Whitmore Heath

Following the announcement and subsequent cancellation of the HS2 TrainLine, houses affected by the plans were forcibly purchased and left empty, which led to the creation of ghost towns.

A local area that been devastated through this series of events is 'Whitmore Heath'. These images focus on the relationship of mankind & nature; the environments are depicted without human presence but include the traces of use and habitation, showing how the landscape has been altered & left behind.

The use of analogue (chemical and non-digital) processes are slower, demanding control and precision in the shooting process and the print-making. Using these processes asks the photographer to engage more fully with the capture of light on emulsion.
